Abstract
Teachers are among the groups with the most interaction with students. Therefore, they must possess the knowledge and ability to identify postural abnormalities and apply ergonomic principles during activities to help prevent future musculoskeletal issues in students. Although a questionnaire has been developed to assess teachers’ postural knowledge, no Persian version has yet been published or evaluated for reliability in Iran. This study aimed to translate the tool into Persian and assess its reliability. The questionnaire consists of three sections: the first on postural abnormalities, the second on postural ergonomics, and the third on socio-demographic information such as age and teaching experience. The total score for each participant was calculated by summing the scores from the first two sections. To assess reliability, 51 teachers (mean age: 34 years; mean teaching experience: 9.1 years) were purposively selected from various educational levels and completed the questionnaire twice, one week apart. Using the test-retest method and the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC), reliability scores were 0.875 for the first section, 0.921 for the second, and 0.927 overall. The reliability of the first section was rated good, and both the second section and the overall score were rated excellent. Thus, the Persian version demonstrates acceptable reliability and is recommended as a valid instrument for assessing teachers’ postural knowledge in educational and preventive studies.
