Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify the challenges and propose solutions regarding the impact of adventure sports on sustainable development. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach with thematic analysis. Interviews were carried out in a targeted manner, continuing through snowball sampling, and ultimately, interviews were completed with 15 participants. These participants included tour guides, environmental experts, tour operators, and tourism agency managers. Data analysis revealed 32 subcategories, which were grouped into nine main categories. Among the negative impacts of adventure sports on sustainable development, the study identified several key issues: adverse effects on local communities, soil erosion, environmental pollution, overconsumption of resources, the strain on tourism infrastructure development, lack of coordination among regulatory bodies, disruption to wildlife, poor management practices, and economic problems. These findings can guide communities and governments to not only consider the benefits and positive impacts of adventure sports but also to prioritize reducing their negative effects on sustainable community development. Furthermore, all relevant organizations and institutions can become familiar with both current and emerging challenges and use the proposed solutions to address and improve existing and future conditions.
