Abstract
Considering the great role and importance of Pahlavanan (Heroes) in the historical background of Iranian sports and the need to know how to train them, the present study presents a model of the educational themes of Pahlevanan in the stories of Shahnameh. The present research method was descriptive-analytical and performed as a library. The instrument of this research was Ferdowsi's Shahnameh, which was used by Jalal Khaleghi Motlagh (2015). To analyze the data, the qualitative method of content analysis and networking of themes was used and the data were analyzed in three stages of description, interpretation and integration. The findings showed that the educational themes of the heroes were mentioned directly, implicitly or in the form of advice in three sections. Siavash's upbringing by Rostam, Esfandiar's request to Rostam to train Bahman, Shapur's upbringing by Ardeshir, Ardeshir Babakan's order to raise his children and Bahram Gour's upbringing by priests are stories that directly address the issue of training heroes. Also, by analyzing more than 60 educational topics and integrating them into homogeneous classes, the final model of the research was formed in six dimensions, including military and physical, spiritual and religious, moral and acquired, personality and intrinsic, and wisdom and knowledge. The results of this research, as a fundamental research, can provide a deep knowledge of heroic values so that while respecting the heritage of the past, it can provide a basis for emphasizing these values in the training of today's athletes.
