The aim of the current research is to Analyze the role of the government in the development of public sports using the media. In terms of objective, it is applied and in terms of qualitative research method, it is based on thematic analysis approach. In this research, according to the purpose of studying the participants based on targeted sampling from among the government members, managers and expert and high experts in the selected headquarters areas of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, including (Deputy for the Development of Public Sports, Office of International Affairs, Office of Cultural Affairs, Women's Sports Development Deputy, Public Relations), sports directors of provincial municipalities and sports directors of various departments of the armed forces, as well as elected directors in the National Olympic and Paralympic Committee and professors of sports management, were selected (18 interviews). In order to collect information, a semi-structured and in-depth interview was used. Validity and reliability were confirmed. The results of the content analysis showed that the government media influence the development of public sports in dimensions such as the structure of public sports, promotion and publicity of public sports, information of public sports, and education of public sports, acculturalization of public sports and convergence of stakeholders of public sports. According to the results of the research, it is suggested that it is necessary to use the capacity of the media in order to empower the public sports program. Therefore, taking advantage of variables such as culture building and educational activities can provide conditions for the development of sports activities, public sports and presenting ideas and criticisms in the technological platform and capacity of the media.
