Testing is a tool used to identify strengths and weaknesses and to collect data that can serve as a basis for future evaluations and decisions. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to examine the anthropometric and physical fitness indicators of Iranian national team athletes in 10 sports disciplines (squash, badminton, basketball, taekwondo, fencing, rowing, karate, kabaddi, handball, and volleyball) over the period from 2010 to 2020 (covering three Asian Games and Olympic Games cycles). This study is descriptive-comparative and, considering its objective, is applied research. It investigated the status of elite athletes in anthropometric indices (height, weight, and body mass index) and physical fitness (agility, flexibility, and anaerobic power) during the years 2010 to 2020 (three cycles of the Asian Games and the Olympics). According to the study findings, the average age of elite athletes in the Asian Games and Olympics was 21.5 years. Kabaddi athletes had the highest average age at 23.59 years, while volleyball players had the lowest at 20.60 years. Additionally, the results indicated that agility was superior in fencing, flexibility was highest in kabaddi, and anaerobic power was most prominent in rowing .Assessing the anthropometric and physical fitness status of elite athletes not only describes the current condition but also provides a benchmark for evaluating other athletes. The results of physical fitness tests highlight the strengths and weaknesses of training programs and offer practical guidance to coaches for monitoring the athletes’ progress or potential decline.
